All About Suits in Rummy

Runs and Sets

The game of Rummy aims to build sets and runs of cards in your hand. Runs are three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, whereas sets are three or four cards of the same rank but different suits.

Forming a Set

As long as the cards in a set have the same rank, it doesn't matter what suit they belong to. For instance, the three hearts, the three of diamonds, and the three spades might all be used to form a set.

Making Runs

All cards must belong to the same suit while making runs. For instance, using the 4, 5, and 6 of clubs would let you make a run, while using the 4, 5, and 6 of hearts would prevent you from doing so.

Points in Rummy

In Rummy, a point value is allocated to each card. Aces are for one point, face cards (jacks, queens, and kings) are worth ten points, and all other cards are worth their face value.
