Croatia (CRO) squares off against Scotland (SCO) in a virtual knockout clash in Euro 2020 Group D. With Finland and Ukraine finishing third with three points in Group B and Group C, respectively, the winner of Croatia-Scotland will grab a place in the last 16. Both teams cannot afford a draw as it will eliminate them from the tournament.
The 2018 World Cup runners-up will be pinning their hopes on Luka Modric, who has time and again proved his ability to produce match-winning performances in crucial games. Meanwhile, the goal against the Czech Republic couldn’t have come at a better time for Ivan Perisic and Croatia. He struggled for consistency since the 2018 World Cup, and Zlatko Dalic, Croatia head coach, needed one of his experienced players to step up in the second half against the Czech Republic.
Scotland is the only team not to score a goal in Euro 2020. They had 30 attempts, but Lyndon Dykes, Che Adams, Andy Robertson, and Scott McGinn, etc., have all struggled in front of goal. However, the backline had a solid outing against England. It will be interesting to see how Scotland will cope without midfielder Billy Gilmour, who won the player of the match award in their last game.
