IND vs SL 1st T20I: How did the top fantasy picks fare?

By Parameswaran Sankaranarayanan February 25, 2022

A dominant performance from batters helped India crush Wanindu Hasaranga-less Sri Lanka in the opening match of the three-match T20I series. Half-centuries from Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer steered India to 199/2 in 20 overs. Sri Lanka lost both their openers in the powerplay and slumped to 60/5. Charith Asalanka struck an unbeaten 53, but the visitors fell short by 62 runs.

We look at how the top five most selected players performed in the 1st T20I.

R Sharma - Sel by 88%

The Men in Blue skipper had an impressive outing as he picked up 60 fantasy points in the match. He put up a century stand with Ishan and took the catch to dismiss Kamil Mishara. A 44% of fantasy cricket players had made him their captain.

Ishan Kishan - Sel by 81%

Ishan played one of his finest knocks in T20 cricket. The 23-year-old, who hit ten fours and three sixes, emerged the top fantasy points scorer in the match with 137 fantasy points. It was also the first time he managed to go past three-figure fantasy points score in a T20I.

Jasprit Bumrah - Sel by 80%

Playing his first T20I since the 20-over World Cup, Jasprit Bumrah managed to bag only 4 fantasy points. He went wicketless from his three overs, much to the disappointment of a big number of fantasy cricket players.

Pathum Nissanka - Sel by 80%

Pathum Nissanka failed to live up to the hype after being dismissed in the opening ball of the run chase. The most picked Sri Lankan player made just 2 fantasy points - the lowest by a player in the match.

Ravindra Jadeja & Dushmantha Chameera - Sel by 70%

The Indian all-rounder and the Sri Lankan pacer registered 32 and 28 fantasy points, respectively. Ravindra Jadeja grabbed both batting and bowling points, while Dushmantha Chameera, who leaked 42 runs off his four overs, struck a quickfire 24*.
