Q & A

Fantasy tips and tricks: Should I pick more bowlers, batsmen or all-rounders?

Contrary to the predictions before the tournament that Wankhede Stadium would have a pitch that will support batsmen, it has indeed been a challenging pitch for all teams so far to bat on first particularly. The fresh layer of grass on the pitches used so far has not only assisted fast bowlers, but spinners have also been able to make an impact, particularly those from the Kolkata side. Adding more to the batting front while getting the right amount of balance between pace and spin will be the right approach for this game in making your fantasy cricket playing XI.

Fantasy tips: From which team should I pick more players in my XI? Which team is stronger?

Bangalore and Rajasthan have exciting squads at their disposal and have been able to make a few right moves so far in the initial games that they have played. With two victories in as many matches, Rajasthan are currently sitting at the top of the Indian T20 Cricket League 2022 points table whereas Bangalore are at the seventh spot, having lost one match and won one. Rajasthan, on paper, look a more promising and all-round side compared to Bangalore ]since they have shown tremendous depth both in batting as well as their bowling to make an impressive start to the 15th edition of the Indian T20 Cricket League 2022. But the look of things, Rajasthan are certainly the stronger side and should have more players listed on the fantasy cricket playing XI.

MORE INFORMATION: For Rajasthan, opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has not been able to fire to the extent he can and the same can be said for Bangalore wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat. Bangalore has always been a top-heavy side but they look a lot different this year and the contest against Rajasthan will be a stern challenge for their preparedness of going deeper into this edition of the Indian T20 Cricket League 2022.

PLAYERS’ FORM: Jos Buttler scored a magnificent hundred in the previous match for Rajasthan against Mumbai and is currently the joint highest run-scorer with Mumbai wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan, with both the batsmen scoring 135 runs each from the first two matches. Sanju Samson has also been among runs for Rajasthan, who have been bolstered with their progress shown by West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer. On their part, Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis has been their best batsmen followed by V Kohlii and Dinesh Karthik, but they know that others also have to chip in with vital performances with the bat. With the ball, all eyes will be on Rajasthan spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Bangalore’s Wanindu Hasaranga.

Changes in squad (if any): NO

BANGALORE: Faf du Plessis (c), Anuj Rawat, V Kohlii, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Sherfane Rutherford, Shahbaz Ahmed, Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga, David Willey, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep.

FANTASY XI: Jos Buttler (c), Faf du Plessis, Sanju Samson (vc&wk), V Kohlii, Shimron Hetmyer, Shahbaz Ahmed, Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal/Wanindu Hasaranga, Prasidh Krishna, Trent Boult, Akash Deep/Mohammed Siraj.

Bangalore take on rampant Rajasthan

The Faf du Plessis-led Bangalore will be wary of the firepower that Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan possess in their ranks when the two teams meet at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday night for the Match No 13 of the ongoing Indian T20 Cricket League 2022 tournament.

Rajasthan are sitting pretty at the top of the Indian T20 Cricket League 2022 points table with four points in two matches giving them a healthy Net Run Rate (NRR) of 2.100. On the other hand, their opponent for Tuesday night, Bangalore, are languishing at the seventh spot with a victory and a defeat in two matches played so far, with two points in their kitty and a negative NRR of -0.048.

Rajasthan would know that they have been able to strike together as a team, with the likes of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmyer and Devdutt Padikkal leading run-scoring for them whereas bowlers Yuzvendra Chahal,  Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna have together been able to produce strong performances.

At a venue where teams batting second have won all the three matches played so far in the tournament, Rajasthan are yet to be tested since both their victories so far have come in matches where they got to bat first.

Jos Buttler struck a magnificent century in their previous match on Saturday against Mumbai, pushing his team total 193/8 which was beyond the reach of the five-time title winners.

Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson has had two scores in excess of 30 signalling his rich form with the bat, whereas legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal looks like a man on a mission to prove his point after his exit from his previous team Bangalore.

Shimron Hetmyer is finally coming together to display his batting prowess and the arsenal of strokes that he has in him, which is a very exciting watch in itself. The likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Riyan Parag and even Yashasvi Jaiswal have crucial roles to play and Rajasthan will hope for further improvement in their game.

Bangalore will be cautious of the fact that they are yet to play out a complete  performance, with the team coming off a narrow three-wicket victory against Kolkata in the match played on March 30.

A four-wicket burst from Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga helped Bangalore limit Kolkata to just 128, a target in which they huffed and puffed but eventually got over the finish line courtesy resistance from their lower order.

Bangalore will be dependent on the likes of Du Plessis, V Kohlii, Shahbaz Ahmad, Dinesh Karthik to get the runs whereas with the ball, they have some really promising players in Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep, who took three wickets against Kolkata in their last match.
