Q&A:

Should I pick more bowlers, batsmen or all-rounders?

In a contest between two faltering teams, it will be justified to deck up the side with extra batsmen in order to ensure that there are no slip-ups and there are enough fallback options in case the main batsmen are not able to do their job, as was the case in the contest between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday night. The pitch at the Dubai International Stadium remains favourable to batsmen, which implies that it provides both the teams with plenty of opportunity to get back into the best zone as far as batting is concerned.

From which team should I pick more players in my XI? Which team is stronger?

For all the coaching and cricketing talent at their perusal, Sunrisers Hyderabad are languishing at the bottom of the Indian T20 2021 points table with only 1 victory in 9 matches played so far giving them 2 points. It will not be exaggerating to say at this point in time that their campaign might already be over in this tournament and that the Kane Williamson-led side can play party-spoilers for the other teams — in case they find any form. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have also misfired not to the extent that SRH have. Rajasthan Royals have 4 wins and 5 defeats in 9 matches and they still stand a strong chance of making it to the Indian T20 2021 players if they do not underperform any longer. For this contest, Rajasthan Royals are the stronger side and should have more players selected in the fantasy playing XI.

MORE INFORMATION:

Players’ form: Sunrisers Hyderabad have hit the nadir. There is not a single batsman in their camp who can be described as being in-form and topping this list are the star SRH batsmen David Warner and Williamson. SRH also have a terribly weak middle order in the form of Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey and Abdul Samad, to some extent, with the overseas players in Holder and Rashid Khan being forced to contribute with the bat heavily as well as consistently. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals batsmen had an off day against Delhi Capitals but skipper Sanju Samson still showcased his class with an unbeaten 70, which will bolster his confidence going further into the tournament. There is a lot to be desired from both the teams as far as bowling is concerned, which in a way explains the reason why they are currently occupying the bottom two spots in the Indian T20 2021 points table

Changes in squad (if any): NO

Rajasthan Royals look to make most of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s misery

Their coaching staff consists of 2019 Cricket World Cup winner Trevor Bayliss (as England coach), 2007 World Cup finalist Tom Moody (as Sri Lanka coach), 2011 World Cup player Muttiah Muralitharan and batting great VVS Laxman. The roster of players includes 2015 World Cup winner and SRH’s captain in Indian T20 2016 winning campaign David Warner, one of the finest batsmen across formats in Kane Williamson, and some of the world’s best short-format players in Rashid Khan, Jason Roy and Jason Holder to name a few.

Despite all the riches, Sunrisers Hyderabad are enduring a horrendous campaign in the Indian T20 2021 tournament. SRH are at the bottom of the Indian T20 2021 points table with only 1 win in 9 matches so far, which effectively has ruled him out of the race for the knockout round for which all the eight teams have been vying for.

Former West Indies captain and Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Holder did not deserve to be on the losing side on Saturday night in the contest against Punjab Kings. The lanky all-rounder claimed 3 wickets and followed his splendid bowling performance with a breathtaking knock of 47 not out from 29 deliveries spangled with 5 sixes, but the side still ended up losing their eighth match out of the nine played so far.

It was not even a huge target that was beyond the reach of Sunrisers Hyderabad that they could not accomplish against the misfiring Punjab Kings. Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to make even 125 to win on a perfect batting wicket, which describes what is ailing their batting as well as the team in all.

There is absolutely no explanation why Sunrisers Hyderabad have endured such a poor season in which none of their batsmen or bowlers have looked the part.

In the Indian leg of Indian T20 2021, it appeared that the differences between the SRH leadership consisting the coaching setup and Warner was the reason why the team was performing miserably, but there has been absolutely no change in their on-field results with Williamson taking over and Warner enduring a continued poor form with the bat.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have only themselves to blame for the loss against Delhi Capitals. Rajasthan batsmen had a collective failure in the chase of 157 on Saturday afternoon, in which only their captain Samson waged a lone battle scoring a splendid 70 not out while the second best in the batting line-up came from Mahipal Lomror, who made 19.

Rajasthan Royals still have greater hopes than Sunrisers Hyderabad in order to make it to the Indian T20 2021 playoffs, provided they do not underperform or blow away the situations which are in their firm control. In the contest against Delhi, Rajasthan did well to start with early wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, but the rest of the Delhi batsmen were able to put up enough runs on the board which eventually looked beyond RR’s reach.

Both Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad will be under pressure to perform and stem the rot, with the Samson-led side being the favourites to win this contest.
