Manchester Originals (MNR) will be aiming to climb into playoff places when they meet London Spirit (LNS) at Old Trafford cricket ground tonight in match 24 of the Hundred. The home team has won two games and lost one, while bad weather forced them to share points in two fixtures. London Spirit, meanwhile, needs two points to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. They are yet to win a match so far, and a defeat or just one point against Manchester Originals will make them the first team to be eliminated from the competition.
Team News
Colin Munro is the player to watch out for in the Manchester Originals playing eleven. The New Zealand batsman, not picked in the New Zealand T20 World Cup squad, was unbeaten on 41 against Southern Brave before rain washed out the match. He is the only Manchester Originals player to have registered more than 100 runs in the tournament.
The franchise is likely to recall Matt Parkinson after leaving the spinner out from the playing eleven in the last game. He picked up a four-wicket haul in the only completed game at Old Trafford cricket ground.
A dismal performance against Northern Superchargers saw London Spirit getting hammered by 63 runs at Lord’s. Debutant Luis Reece was the only bright spark in the match. The 31-year-old scored 24 runs, while captain Eoin Morgan made his first 20-plus score in the tournament. Joe Denly, Mohammad Nabi, and Ravi Bopara continued to struggle with the bat.
Pace bowlers Mohammad Amir and Blake Cullen couldn’t find the right length and line in the last game. They picked up only one wicket between them. The franchise might hand a debut to 24-year-old pacer Brad Wheal or experienced Jade Dernbach. The batting unit is likely to be unchanged. Apart from wicketkeeper-batsman Joe Cracknell, they don’t have enough options on the bench.
