An action-packed Saturday begins with a cracking fixture as Trent Rockets (TRT) take on Southern Brave (SOB) at Trent Bridge in match 3 of The Hundred. Both teams have some fantastic T20 players in their squad, and cricket fans will be hoping for a thriller.
Team News
TRT boasts one of the best opening pairs in the 100-ball tournament. The Hales-D’Arcy Short duo is a nightmare for bowlers. Both batsmen have hit a combined 770 runs in the Vitality Blast 2021. Hales had registered a hundred – 101* against Lancashire – and scored half of his runs courtesy boundaries in the tournament.
Dawid Malan, Joe Root, Luke Wright, Samit Patel, etc., are some of the other key members in the batting unit. Wicket-keeper Ben Cox, bowlers Lewis Gregory, Steven Mullaney, and Marchant de Lange, too, can make valuable contributions with the bat.
Afghan spin king Rashid Khan will be keen to impress in yet another franchise tournament. The 22-year-old, who picked up a five-wicket haul in the Pakistan Super League last month, is not the lone spinner in the squad as veteran Samit and uncapped Matthew Carter, too, are the other slow bowlers.
SOB batsman Devon Conway will be hoping to continue his scintillating performances in England. He has given bowlers a torrid time after scoring four half-centuries in eight innings in Vitality Blast 2021. The franchise will miss the services of Quinton de Kock in their opening game as he is with the South Africa squad, which is playing a T20I series against Ireland.
James Vince, who hit a hundred against Sussex in Vitality Blast last week, is likely to open the batting with Conway. Also, New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme could make it into the playing eleven. A few uncapped batters like Delray Rawlins, Ross Whiteley, and Alex Davies, too, could be involved.
With Chris Jordan and Tymal Mills in the squad, SOB has plenty of experience in the bowling unit. Spinner Danny Briggs and England international Craig Overton, too, are likely to be in the final eleven.
