Deal: The number of cards distributed to players will depend on the number of players involved in the game. For example:

  • Five to six players will get 6 cards each
  • Three to four will get 7 cards each
  • Two players will get 10 cards each
  • The remaining cards will be played in the middle. 
  • The card on the top will be flipped to form the discard pile.

Card Rank: Each card has a different ranking in the game. The order of cards from the highest ranking to the lowest ranking is as follows - King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace.

Objective Of The Game: The objective of this game is very simple. All you have to do is:  

  • Score points by having the lowest number of unmatched cards at the end of each round.
  • You are required to form sets during rounds. 
  • A set can include three or four cards of the same suit or in the same ranking.

Gameplay

  • The game is started by the player on the left of the dealer. 
  • The player can either draw the top card of the draw deck or the top card of the discard pile. 
  • After that, the player is required to discard a card of his choice. 
  • The game is played in a clockwise motion. 
  • A round can be ended by a player by knocking on their turn. For this, the player will have to start their turn with a draw, knock, and discard. 
  • All players are required to show their cards and divide them into matched and unmatched cards after a knock.
  • The players have to make sure their priorities are sorted and only then can they win a game in knock rummy.

Scoring

  • The player with the lowest number of unmatched cards will score points. 
  • To add to your knowledge and for your benefit, the ace is valued at one point, face cards at ten points, and other cards are at their face value.
  • In case you end up with the lowest number of cards, you will win the difference in counts. 
  • In addition, you will get 25 points if you go rummy.
  • If a player is in a tie with the knocker for a low count, the player will be the winner, instead of the knocker. 
  • In case, the knocker doesn’t have the lowest count, they will have to pay a penalty of 10 points as well as the difference in counts to the player who wins the hand.

Rules

  • If a player ends up with no unmatched cards after a knock, the player has a rum. 
  • In this case, the player will get 25 bonus points as well as the number of unmatched cards from each player.
  • If a player knocks but doesn’t have the lowest count, the player with the lowest count will win the hand. 
  • The winning player will score the difference between each player and a 10 points penalty from the player who knocked.
  • If a player knocks, but there’s a tie between players for the lowest count, then the tying players will have to divide the score between themselves.
  • If a player knocks and ends up in a tie with another player, then the non-knocking player will win the difference. 
  • As for the knocking player, he/she will not get any points.
  • In case the draw deck runs out of cards, you can create a new draw deck by flipping the discard pile.
